A New Generation of Horror - The Evil Within Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

Review by Jack Sutton

The Evil Within had big promises to live up to, boasting about being one of the scariest games to be released in years. With beautiful visuals, responsive gameplay and some truly terrifying moments, this title does not disappoint. This is a game that’s full of atmosphere, excitement, and entertainment around every turn.

Why we're so excited for Bloodborne

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

So we were lucky enough to get our hands on the Bloodborne Alpha Test Demo. Imagine our excitement, considering our huge love for the Souls games, when we found out that From Software were releasing a new, original IP! We haven’t played for long, but it’s shaping up to be a real beauty. Here’s five reasons why we can’t wait for Bloodborne.

An MMO of the Future - Destiny: Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

Review by Jack Sutton

So I’ve had Destiny for a while now, and it’s safe to say that I’ve played the holy hell out of it, and despite some of its flaws, I had a blast playing it. Destiny is a great game, but doesn’t live up to the wild expectations that we had, but that’s only because those expectations were so incredibly high. It might have been overhyped, but Destiny is certainly worth picking up for any shooter/RPG fan.

Swing and a Miss - Bound By Flame Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

It’s clear what developers Spiders Studio has attempted in Bound By Flame - a new fantasy action RPG marking the beginning of a new franchise. Whilst it seems that inspiration has been taken from games such as Dragon Age, Bound By Flame falls at almost every hurdle, delivering a mediocre experience that really isn’t worth wasting time on.

Been there, Done that - Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

Gabriel Belmont is back, now going under the name Dracula. Fulfilling the prophecy that those who defeat the Lords of Shadow shall sit on their throne and become the Prince of Darkness, Gabriel is now a vampire, and not a very nice one. Unfortunately, the sequel to the hugely successful reboot doesn’t follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, leaving us with a boring action game that soils the name of Dracula.

First Impressions - Dark Souls 2: Crown of the Sunken King

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

Excitement. Crown of the Sunken King is the first of a trio of DLCs being released for Dark Souls 2. I’ve only been playing for about 10 minutes, but already that feeling of anticipation and trepidation have returned. That feeling that you only get on your first playthrough of any Souls game.

Back Into The Abyss - Dark Souls 2 Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

After what feels like decades, the much anticipated sequel to From Software’s Dark Souls is finally upon us. Dark Souls 2 throws us back into the brutal action and unforgiving necessity for learning that made the first game so successful. A few drawbacks pull this game away from perfection, but these are minor, and can even be overcome. Dark Souls 2 is an addictive experience that will make you struggle to pull yourself away from it for any extended period of time.

If It Ain't Broke... - Dead Space 3 Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

When Isaac Clarke first stepped onto our screens in Dead Space, the survival-horror genre got the kick up the ass that it needed. Followed by an outstanding sequel that topped the original in almost every way in Dead Space 2, it’s no wonder that fans of the series were jumping behind the sofa once again when the third instalment was announced. Isaac Clarke is back again in Dead Space 3, and whilst it’s undoubtedly the weakest of the three, it is by no means a bad game.

Gaming Heaven? Or Reboot Hell? - DMC: Devil May Cry Game Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

The teams at Capcom and Ninja Theory made a pretty ballsy move in rebooting a franchise as loved as Devil May Cry. Stripping away everything that we know and replacing it with a new Dante, a new world, and new relationships with his fellow characters could have gone horribly wrong, but as it turns out, this new twist on the series is a refreshing change, and shows that you really can teach an old dog new tricks.

A Legend In the Faking - 007 Legends Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

The world of cinema marked the 50th anniversary of 007 in spectacular fashion, by delivering what is widely considered the best Bond film yet. But what’s happening in the wonderful world of gaming? A movie tie-in videogame perhaps? No. Instead we have a celebration of Britain’s favourite superspy’s greatest adventures, in 007 Legends

Disappointment Is In The Air

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

Whilst the PS3 has had some great successes over its years, there have certainly been some less than thrilling games. As we enter the new generation of gaming, we took a look back at some of the greatest disappointments of the PS3. So let’s get started!

The Best of a Generation

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

As we reach the end of 2013, we enter not only a new year, but a new generation of gaming, with the XBOX One and the PS4 marching onto the field. In light of these new arrivals, we here at Vuepoint have created a list of our favourite games to grace the PS3 console.

More Super-average than Super-hero

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

To a die hard comic book fan, DC Universe Online may seem like the Holy Grail of video-games. The ability to create a character, choose their powers, weapons, fighting style, and even customize your own superhero costume, before going out into thebig bad world and fighting alongside and against a host of your favourite superheroes and villains, could seem like the pinnacle of enjoyment. However to the casual gamer DCUO is button-mashing MMORPG that is mediocre at best.

Dark. Brutal. Compelling. These are just three of the words I would use to describe The Last of Us. But no matter how you look at Naughty Dog’s latest release, there’s one thing that cannot be disputed. This game is an absolute triumph.

DEATHLY Hallows...it's a pun, see?

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

So I’m finally nearing the end of the line. With only two more Potter games left, the finish is in sight.  I just wish that they could be two good ones. Unfortunately, wishes don’t come true, and it would seem that the developers saved the worst for last.

One Step Backwards = Another Two Forward

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

After the terrible ordeal that was “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”, I searched deep within my soul, and after a lot of digging, heavy breathing and a little crying, I found the will to go on. I took Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix from its place on my shelf and watched my hungry PS3 (another console upgrade? Hell yeah) greedily take the disc from my hand.

No. Just...no.

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

There are many things in the world that cause depression, such as a bad break-up, the thought of attending a Twi-athalon, and Gordon Brown. Something else that’s rather depressing is knowing that something bad is inevitable, and this is exactly what I was thinking as I sat down for game 4 of the Harry Potter series.

And I wasn’t wrong.

Games 2 and 3 of Harry P. What went wrong? (Part 2)

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

So, after my thoroughly enjoyable ride through the first Harry Potter game, we get an upgrade to PS2! Unfortunately, a better system doesn’t mean better game. The Chamber of Secrets game wasn’t bad, it just seemed to lack the charm that the first game had. Gone were the happy little minigames, puzzles and collectables, in favour of a darker, more action-oriented game.

Where did the Potter games go wrong? - Part 1

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

So it’s the Easter Holidays. I’ve finished my Uni stuff. I’ve finished the work I need to do, and now I’m bored, with nothing else to do but count down the hours until Saturday night. Then it struck me! “Hey Jack!” said my mind, “Why don’t you get a series of games that you haven’t touched in a while, and play through them?” This wasn’t a bad idea, so I pulled out my drawers and dug right to the very back, my fingers brushing against something dusty. This seems promising. I grasped and pulled, and withdrew the gem that is “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. We have a series. We have consoles. Let’s grab some snacks, some drinks, and lock myself away for the next few days.

Quantum Theory: Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

The third person shooter is a genre that has become saturated with countless entries, so it takes something pretty spectacular in order to stand out in the crowd. Games like Gears of War, or Uncharted are the leading titles in the genre for their respective consoles, and both have set the benchmark for both gameplay and visuals. Unfortunately, Team Tachyon’s sci-fi shooter Quantum Theory cannot hope to keep up with its competitors.
