"Time to make the Chimi-f*cking-changas" - Deadpool Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

The Deadpool movie has been a long-time coming, and after his disastrous interpretation in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, many fans - including myself and Ryan Reynolds - long to see the character done right. It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Deadpool hits all the right notes, and is a must see for any comic book fan.

The Writing's on the Wall - SPECTRE Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

After marking 50 years of Bond with the spectacle that was Skyfall, Sam Mendes had a big job ahead of him topping it with the next instalment. It is with great pleasure that I can say that Spectre fulfilled the high expectations that I had, delivering almost everything I could possibly want from a Bond film.

The Flash: The Man Who Saved Central City - Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

I had mixed feelings on last night’s episode of the Flash. On the one hand it was an exciting opener to the new series, introducing new aspects that will undoubtedly be key factors in the coming season, but on the other there were several problems with the bridge between the end of season 1, and the start of season 2.

Will Dawn of Justice Suck?

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

So the latest Dawn of Justice trailer was released earlier this week. We got to see more of Batman, his motivations and his battle with Supes, as well as Lex Luthor and a quick glimpse of Wonder Woman in action. Fans were raving, theatres were rubbing their hands at the inevitable cash load they’ll get come 2016. Me? I was sat in my chair saying “meh”.

Winter is Here - Game of Thrones: HardHome Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

After last week’s big plot developments, you would be forgiven for assuming that HardHome, the eighth episode in this season of Game of Thrones would slow things down a bit, allowing characters to come to terms with their new conditions. And for the first 40 or so minutes, you’d be right, but then, once again, things kick into high gear, in one of the best episodes of the season.

Full spoilers for the episode below, although I don’t follow the books, so any theories about the future are purely observational.

Something Super This Way Comes! - Supergirl: Pilot Review

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

I’ll admit, I was sceptical when I saw the Supergirl trailer. The heavy focus on Kara as a magazine assistant, combined with that sickeningly cheesy song at the end didn’t fill me with much confidence. It looked like an Ugly Betty-esque romantic comedy series about a girl with superpowers trying to fit in with every day life, which would appeal to some audiences, sure, but not me. However, being the open-minded individual  that I am, I decided to check out the pilot, to see what was going on, and boy am I glad I did.

Because holy hell, I haven’t been so wrong about anything in a long time.

The Trouble with Time Travel

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

So the first season of The Flash just had it’s finale, and yes it was awesome. The whole series was awesome, satisfying our need for comic book silliness, but tackling it in a cool, modern way. But it will inevitably suffer from the same problem that anything attempting time travel will. There’s a huge paradox that cannot be escaped.

Unless you’re approaching it from a “history cannot be changed, everything will still play out the same angle”. Those will work. Anything that attempts to change the past to alter the present will fall into the gaping hole of “but what happens now?”.
