What is real? What is illusion? What can you trust when your own senses lie to you? These are the fears that Oculus preys upon. A horror film with some great scares, an interesting premise, and a chilling story, told in a mix of flashback and present day action. Whilst some of the features – such as the credits – look a little amateur, if you’re one for being sat on the edge of your seat biting your nails, Oculus isn’t one that you want to miss.

All Style and No Substance - 300: Rise of an Empire Review

Zack Snyder’s 300 was a stylish action fantasy, driven by its story, performances and stylishly edited action pieces. Personally I was a huge fan. So I was quite excited when I heard about a sequel in the works. Unfortunately, I was left somewhat disappointed. Directed by Noam Murro, rather than Snyder, the influences from the original are certainly there, but seem messy and unpolished.

If there’s anything that Marvel fans want to do, it’s go back and erase Brett Ratner from the X-Men timeline. It would seem that Bryan Singer may just have found a way of doing that. X-Men: Days of Future Past welcomes back the director of X-Men, and X2: X-Men United, and understandably, we’re excited. And for good reason. X-Men: Days of Future Past secures itself safely as one of the best X-Men films yet.

Sure, we had Abbadon as the over-arching demon serving as a primary antagonist for the brothers to – as they would put it – “gank”, but when she gets killed off before the finale, the focus shifts to Metatron, the angel responsible for the angels’ fall from heaven.

After what feels like decades, the much anticipated sequel to From Software’s Dark Souls is finally upon us. Dark Souls 2 throws us back into the brutal action and unforgiving necessity for learning that made the first game so successful. A few drawbacks pull this game away from perfection, but these are minor, and can even be overcome. Dark Souls 2 is an addictive experience that will make you struggle to pull yourself away from it for any extended period of time.

If It Ain't Broke... - Dead Space 3 Review

When Isaac Clarke first stepped onto our screens in Dead Space, the survival-horror genre got the kick up the ass that it needed. Followed by an outstanding sequel that topped the original in almost every way in Dead Space 2, it’s no wonder that fans of the series were jumping behind the sofa once again when the third instalment was announced. Isaac Clarke is back again in Dead Space 3, and whilst it’s undoubtedly the weakest of the three, it is by no means a bad game.
