TimeShift: Review

OK, so this week I’ve been playing TimeShift, a sci-fi shooter that was delayed and put back many times before its release. Due to these set-backs, I had high hopes that this game would be great, as they had continually put back the release as they were making it better, but I regret to inform you, that I was bitterly disappointed. Many aspects of this game fall short of the hopes that I had in store, and it does not come close to living up to the expectations I had.

The Dark Knight Rises: Movie Review

The Christopher Nolan series is known by many to be the best series of Batman films to date. Their dark twist has managed to please fans, and the intricate narrative, pulse-pounding action, and truly spectacular effects have made this a series to remember. Now the finale is upon us, and it is undoubtedly the biggest scale, the most emotionally involved, and absolutely the most climactic entry of them all. The Dark Knight Rises finishes the series with a bang, and it is not one to be missed.

Attack the Block: Review

If I had to summarize Attack the Block in one word, that word would be: unique. It seems like a crazy idea, mixing the conventions of social realism dramas based in the rough ends of London, with a comedic sci-fi horror movie. But Attack the Block does it so well, it seems like the two drastically different genres should fit perfectly together. What starts off looking like the typical, gritty drama about a gang of youths in a London council estate, quickly becomes a deadly, yet comedic fight for survival against extra-terrestrial forces. The teenage stereotype of hoodies with baseball bats and switchblades is not only exaggerated, but used. The violent behaviour that modern day gangs have become associated with is shown in a new light, as it is used to repel the alien invasion.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: Review

If you’re bored, and want something to do for a few hours...or days...or weeks...then Skyrim isn’t for you. This game will undoubtedly take you months to see all it has to offer, and with solid combat, responsive controls and a ridiculous amount of things to do, you should clear your schedule, turn off your phone and get started, because Skyrim is here, and it’s one of the best RPGs of all time.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception: Review

I must admit, back in 2007, when Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was released, the trailer didn’t really strike my fancy. I gave it a try though, and since then, Naughty Dog’s franchise has been in my top five, and has been unmovable by any other games that I have played, (and trust me, I play a lot). Now here we are with Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and believe me when I say, Drake is back and better than ever.

The Amazing Spiderman: Review

In 2002, Tobey Maguire brought the Marvel web-slinger to life in the first live-action Spiderman movie. The two sequels went steadily downhill, but now we have something new. Andrew Garfield stars as the beloved hero in this re-telling of the story from a different Spiderman universe, and trust me when I say, fans of the franchise are in for a treat.
