So it’s the
Easter Holidays. I’ve finished my Uni stuff. I’ve finished the work I need to
do, and now I’m bored, with nothing else to do but count down the hours until Saturday
night. Then it struck me! “Hey Jack!” said my mind, “Why don’t you get a series
of games that you haven’t touched in a while, and play through them?” This wasn’t
a bad idea, so I pulled out my drawers and dug right to the very back, my
fingers brushing against something dusty. This seems promising. I grasped and
pulled, and withdrew the gem that is “Harry
Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. We have a series. We have consoles.
Let’s grab some snacks, some drinks, and lock myself away for the next few days.

Wreck-it-Ralph: Film Review
www.facebook.com/vuepointuk
Straight from the word go, Wreck-it-Ralph has received some high praise indeed, such as being
compared to Toy Story, but is this
praise misguided? Does this new, video-game themed adventure warrant comparisons
to such a beloved classic, or does it wreck the studio’s reputation? Fear not,
the movie is much more entertaining than that terrible pun, even if there is a
pun or two thrown in.

Contagion: Film Review
www.facebook.com/vuepointuk
Remember
back in 2008 when M. Night Shyamalan released his epidemic disaster movie “The
Happening”? Remember how the only disastrous thing was the movie itself? Well
now, 3 years later, we have another title in the same vein. Not Shyamalan, but Steven
Soderbergh. Does this give you hope that it may follow a different route? That
the idea of viral outbreak can be saved? Don’t hold your breath. Brace yourself
everybody, history is about to repeat itself.

Les Miserable: Film Review
www.facebook.com/vuepointuk
LOOK DOWN! LOOK DOWN! No. We aren’t playing Bingo. This is
Les Miserable - the screen adaptation of the long running and incredibly
successful stage show. Let me just start by saying that if you like the stage
show, you will undoubtedly love this film. If you haven’t seen the stage show,
you will probably like this film. If you DON’T like the stage show, then why
are you reading this review? Personally, I haven’t seen the stage show, and so
was unsure when entering the cinema. However, since watching it for the first
time, I proceeded to watch it twice more that very same week. Les Miserable isn’t
a good film. Les Miserable, is an absolute masterpiece.

Quantum Theory: Review
www.facebook.com/vuepointuk

The third person shooter is a genre that has become
saturated with countless entries, so it takes something pretty spectacular in
order to stand out in the crowd. Games like Gears
of War, or Uncharted are the leading titles in the genre
for their respective consoles, and both have set the benchmark for both
gameplay and visuals. Unfortunately, Team Tachyon’s sci-fi shooter Quantum Theory cannot hope to keep up with its
competitors.

Blacksite: Area 51

www.facebook.com/vuepointuk
Reviewing a game is much easier when the creator has done it for you. Harvey Smith of Midway Studios claimed that the game deserved every bad review it got, and got fired from the company soon after. According to him, the development schedule was ruined, meaning they never actually able to test the finished project properly. Unfortunately for the studio, firing the guy who pointed out problems, doesn’t make the problems go away, and by golly are there lots of them in Blacksite: Area 51.
